About Me

About Me

This is the personal website of Fr. Timothy Eck II. I am a priest of the diocese of Metuchen. In June 2022 I completed my Sacred Theology License (STL) in Sacred Liturgy at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross in Rome. I am currently the parochial vicar at the Parish of St. Bartholomew, and the Director of the Office of Divine Worship for my diocese. On this site I share my personal writings on a variety of topics (mostly theological, and going forward mostly liturgical.) I do not post here very regularly as I write only when I a) have time and b) have a topic of interest to me. And so either check back regularly, or follow the rss feed for the site found on the the right on the home page for updates.

Why the Name

The name of the website Verbum Caro Factum Est comes from John 1:14 which means “[And] the Word was made flesh”. The gospel of John is my favorite gospel, and the prologue is so incredibly rich. While praying upon what name I should give this blog, this verse came to made. I could spend my whole life meditating on this first chapter alone and not fully explore it. The whole of the mystery of the gospel I can be summed up in these word, God deigned to become incarnate and dwell among us. Out of His great love for us, God came among us to reconcile us to Himself. And thanks be to God that He did.
